My daughter turned 6 and this year she asked for a princess party. It wasn’t easy to get to this theme, we went from mermaids to fairies and ballerinas until, she finally settled on a princess theme. And so I got designing!
Princess Decorations
Initially I had this idea of a simple whimsical design featuring sweet fairytale details, but little Miss insisted we had actual princess illustrations, so I designed some cute princesses for the cake topper.
Since there were a few different options, she loved choosing the princess that looked the most like her to feature on top of her cake! You can see the other options available for the cake topper in our princess printables page.
On her birthday, during the week, I surprised her after school with a small decorated table. I hung a personalised banner on the wall and set up a cake and cupcakes on cute cake stands.
We also had our princess coloring pages on the table for her and her little sister to color in before dinner.
Princess Party Hats
These themed party party hats were a cute and easy DIY. I used some glittery hats we had leftover from another party and hot-glued some ribbons coming out at the top to make some princess inspired party hats. Miss 6 loved them!
Princess Wand Cookies
For her actual party with friends on the weekend, we made some cute princess wand cookies to hand out to her guests.
Using a basic sugar cookie recipe, we cut the cookies into shape, baked them, and then stuck a straw into each cookie when they came out of the oven and let them cooled down. We wrapped the cookies with cellophane bags to keep them fresh. This was perfect for our park party and meant the guests could either eat the cookies or take them home for later!
